Pet urine odour has always been a major deterrence for those on the fence about buying artificial grass for their home.

It builds up in sand infill. It also builds up underneath, in the cracker dust base. This overtime causes gas from the ammonia to release into the air and produce the strong smell urine is known to cause. This smell comes if the turf is left untreated.

With P-Off Infill for Pets, you can apply it on top of your new lawn as an infill, which will prevent the ammonia turning into gas and producing a nasty odour right from the start!

Regular Sand Infill Isn’t Enough

Traditional sand infill often absorbs urine, trapping it in the base layer of your turf where it ferments and releases gas as ammonia. This is what causes that persistent, unpleasant smell.

If your synthetic grass is already installed without pet infill, the old infill may need to be removed and the area treated before applying P-Off Infill.

How to Use P-Off Infill For Pets on Synthetic Turf

Using P-Off Infill is as effective as it is simple to apply. TYou can use a sand spreader or do it by hand. It's then spread out evenly and brushed it into the turf's grain. No Turf Rake, no problem. A stiff broom works good for this.

Whether you're applying P-Off Infill on a new lawn, or replacing regular sand infill, the following 3-steps used to apply our infill are the same.

Apply P-Off Infill In 3 Easy Steps

1. Application: Spread P-Off Infill evenly over your artificial grass using a sand spreader or by hand.
2. Brush In: Use a stiff broom or Turf Rake to brush the infill into the grass fibres. A power broom may be used with care to keep infill contained.
3. Settle In: It may take a little time for the infill to fully settle, especially on high-pile turf.

Infill Application Rates by Turf/Pile Height:

• 30mm: 7–8kg per m²
• 35mm: 10–12kg per m²
• 40mm: 12–15kg per m²
• 45mm: 15kg per m²

Note for Existing Lawns:

If your artificial turf already contains old infill that has absorbed pet urine, we recommend removing it and treating the base before applying fresh P-Off Infill. This will prevent ammonia gas from continuing to cause bad odours.

Infill Application Tips:

• For extra freshness and long-term hygiene, use P-Off Bio-Enzymatic Urine Cleaner on the base before installing the turf.
• A power broom can be used, but make sure the infill stays in the turf area.
• This can take a little while to settle, but take a look below at how much infill you should be using based on your pile height.
• To maximise effectiveness, we recommend using a minimum of 7kg of P-Off Infill per square metre of synthetic turf.
